Media & Press Information

The Free State Project (FSP) welcomes members of the press who are interested in covering our movement, our community, and the unique stories of liberty in New Hampshire. We encourage journalism that is fair, respectful, and transparent.

To protect the privacy and comfort of our participants, and to maintain the integrity of our events and community spaces, we ask that all media follow these simple but essential guidelines.

Press Guidelines

  1. Pre-Approval Required
    • All members of the media must receive pre-approval from the Free State Project before conducting interviews, filming, or otherwise covering our community or events. To request approval, please email info@fsp.org with the following:
      • Your name and any team members attending with you
      • Media outlet or affiliation
      • Purpose of engagement and anticipated publication
    • We will review your request and respond within 1–2 business days. Without pre-approval, media coverage is not permitted at FSP events.
  2. Identification as Press
    • Approved media will be provided with an FSP press badge or other identifying credentials. These must be worn or displayed prominently while covering events or interacting with participants.
  3. Respect for Consent
    • Transparency and consent are core values of our community. At the start of any engagement, interview, or recording, press must clearly identify themselves and their affiliation. Please always obtain verbal consent before recording or photographing individuals.
  4. Professional Conduct
    • Media representatives are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful manner at all times. Sensitive or private conversations should not be recorded, and requests not to be filmed must always be honored.
  5. Contact for Questions
    • For questions regarding media coverage, pre-approval, or press guidelines, please email info@fsp.org.

A Note to Journalists

We value open dialogue and the role of media in sharing the story of the Free State Project. Our guidelines exist to ensure that reporting happens in a way that honors individual liberty, privacy, and the spirit of voluntary cooperation that defines our community.
